Martin Luther King Center officials say shortly after getting a positive test result from the company that drilled the well last month and another one from a horticulturist with the City of Wichita Falls, they were told by Wichita County Texas AgriLife Extension officials the water was too salty for plants.
We talked with that horticulturist who said the water's salt level put it on the upper limits of what's considered safe.
According to Benny Butler, the water is fine for grass but could harm vegetable plants.
However, Butler says mixing it with rainwater should alleviate the problem.
The Smith Garden Water board plans to discuss this matter in detail in the next few days.
