Questions remain in shooting death of Iowa Park man

CROWELL - More questions than answers remain as investigators continue to figure out what led to an Iowa Park man's death in Foard County Saturday.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials say 36-year-old Heath Wayne Hodges was shot and killed by a Foard County Deputy around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Friends say Hodges had been hunting earlier that day on his land between Crowell and Seymour, then went to a friend's property in Crowell where DPS Sergeant Dan Buesing says a Foard County Deputy was called to the property for a routine call to service.

Details of what led up to the shooting are not clear at this time.

The deputy was not injured and is now on administrative leave.

Hodges was a well-known figure in the Texoma agriculture community and the manager of the Quality Implement Company in Burkburnett.

Friends say Hodges was the kind of person everyone wanted to be around.

"He's just one of those guys that, when you're having a bad day, he lifts you up," Hodges's High School Friend Jessica Brady said. "He tried to make you smile, tried to make you laugh."
