The American Red Cross is rushing to get hundreds of Christmas card mailed to the Dallas area before the winter storm arrives.
Several weeks ago, the Red Cross cross kicked off its annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
The non-profit organization had 1,500 cards that went out to schools, churches and other groups to personalize and send to U.S. soldiers who are stationed overseas.
And Red Cross officials say the public's response was wonderful.

"They've come in. They've grabbed the cards.  They went and they signed them.  And we've had over 3,000 signed," says Duke Osborn who works with the American Red Cross.

Red Cross officials say some children also made dozens of homemade cards for troops.
The cards will be sent to a Dallas area company to be screened before troops get them in time for Christmas.
