A Wichita Falls man remains in the intensive care unit at this hour after a routine traffic stop he was involved in takes an unexpected turn.

Wichita Falls police say 39 year-old Shane Clement, seen here in an arrest photo from 2010, is listed in critical but stable condition at United Regional.

Wichita Falls police say just before 2 a.m. Clement was pulled over in front of the Maurine Street Apartments for a routine traffic stop but officials say he got out of the vehicle and ran.

After an officer tackled and handcuffed him, officials say Clement said he couldn't breathe and CPR was performed on him until an ambulance could arrive.

Authorities say officers found a large amount of what they believe to be meth where Clement was tackled.

While the case remains under investigation officials say evading arrest and drug charges are pending for Clement.
