Salvation Army ready to help during chilly temperatures

As cooler temperatures eased the scorching weather Texoma has dealt with on Friday, the Salvation Army is getting ready to help those seeking shelter.

Captain Greg Shannon says every year Salvation Army officials see an increase in people at the shelters.

He says there are nearly 50 beds available in the shelter for those hoping to find a warm place stay and people can register for a bed starting at 4 p.m. daily.

"We just want to be ready and have everything here and available for people," Shannon says. "The only other thing I would say is if some people just want to give a donation, we are always willing to take that."

Shannon says the Salvation Army is always in need of hygiene kits, blankets, pillows, hot drinks and snacks.
