School rebuild, safe rooms included in Lawton school bond

LAWTON - In Lawton, voters are deciding if they want to pass a $99.5 million school bond which would include storm safe rooms in all schools and funds to tear down and build a new Eisenhower Middle School.  

The bond will be paid by property taxes, taxes on property valued at $100,000 would increase a little over $100 in 2019, the bond needs 60 percent of the vote to pass.

School officials said if the bond fails the district will immediately draw up plans to move students out of the middle school over the next 18 months.
