One WFISD school was awarded the distinction, and that's Cunningham Elementary School.
Distinguished performance schools must have received an exemplary rating in 2011, and a rating of either exemplary or recognized in 2009 and 2010.
Campuses must have also maintained a campus residing population of 40-percent or more low-income.
School officials say the award is the result of hard work and a team effort between teachers and parents.
Christy Henry, principal at Cunningham Elementary, says, "We've very fortunate that we have outstanding teachers here who really know how to find the needs of each child and know how to work the strategies and work with each child and meet those needs to have success with the kids."
Several other Region 9 schools are also now recognized as distinguished performance schools in the state.
Those are John G. Tower Elementary in Burkburnett, City View Elementary, Newcastle School, Prairie Valley Elementary, and Seymour Elementary.
