The quake was a magnitude 2.4 at a depth of about 2.4 miles below the earths surface. In addition the epicenter was 14 miles north-northeast of Snyder, TX or 71 miles west-northwest of Abilene, TX.
The United States Geological Survey reports that the temblor occurred at 9:49am Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
There were no reports of shaking from the surrounding area. However the USGS does not solicit shaking reports if the quake is less than a 2.5 magnitude.
The is one in a long series of quakes in the area along the edge of the Caprock over the passed few years. Once you click on the link below each white dot on the map is a recent quake in that region of the Lone Star State.
There has been no reason given on why the shaking occurred.
