Small Quake Shakes Oklahoma After Quiet Period

Recently earthquake activity across Oklahoma had been very quiet as the earth had stopped shaking for an extended period of time.  However this past weekend showed that the earth can always move at anytime in Oklahoma.

A small 2.2 magnitude temblor had an epicenter just east of Stillwater on the 5th of September.  The exact time of the earthquake was 8:57a.m.

Here is how far the epicenter was away from other notable Oklahoma locations:
10 miles:  Stillwater, OK
35 miles:  Gurthrie, OK
41 miles:  Ponca City, OK
43 miles:  Sand Springs, OK
58 miles:  Oklahoma City, OK

If you follow earthquakes closely here is the official United States Geological Survey coordinates for the temblor:  36.131 degrees N and 96.876 degrees W and 5km or 3.1 miles deep in the earth.

The quake was barely felt and there was no damage reported from the quake.
