Today's light snow-covered roads in Wichita Falls had local Meals on Wheels coordinators shifting gears to make sure all clients received a hot meal.
As volunteers arrived at The Kitchen this morning to gather meals for delivery, coordinators say they came up a little short on people.
Officials say six volunteers canceled making deliveries this morning because of the snow.
So, to make sure all 700-plus clients received a meal, officials say some staff members stepped in to help.
"We have three drivers on staff. So they go out. They're delivering anywhere from three to four routes and I'm delivering three routes," says Elizabeth Pando, volunteer coordinator at The Kitchen.
Coordinators say yesterday, Volunteers delivered bags of soup, crackers and other non-perishable items to Meals on Wheels clients, in case the weather cancels deliveries tomorrow.
