The Sochi Olympics Chief said Tuesday that there's still no need to use emergency reserves at mountain venues. He said organizers are prepared with emergency reserves, if needed...amounting to 25 thousand cubic feet of snow. It's now in storage under thermal blankets. He added that snow-making equipment was being used on the Nordic track to deal with snow melt...but not at other venues.
"You know that we had a special program to secure the snow, and the snow is still in some reservoirs, that survived over the previous summer, so in case we need some snow we can use it from our reservoir."
There are also concerns about the condition of some venues...including the track at the snowboard half-pipe competition.
