Those with a need for speed are getting their fill during the fifth annual Lone Star Kart Nationals in Wichita Falls this weekend.

There are more than 300 karts racing throughout the day in a variety of competitions at the J.S. Bridwell Ag Center.

Organizers say the event attracts racers who have dreams of making it to NASCAR because many NASCAR drivers started out in kart racing.

Todd Hrncirik, track promoter, says, "Just like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, those guys all started in go karts, they start in go karts and it goes from there, like Kyle Larson. Kyle Larson has just become running in NASCAR, Kyle Larson is coming out of these karts right here that are racing."

The races continued through Saturday night.

Some of our very own KFDX team members also got behind the wheel this afternoon.

A big thank you to the organizers of the event for letting us take part, too!
