The City of Vernon is waiting on the state to permit its newest water well field.

City officials say once the Winston Field is permitted and approve it will provide the city with an additional 120,000 gallons of water per minute.

City manager Mitch Grant says the city uses about $2 million gallons of water per day. Grant expects permitting to be complete in the next few months.
