Out of town tattoo artists could soon be allowed to hold temporary tattooing events in Wichita Falls.
The Wichita Falls- Wichita County Public Health Board voted to have the revised ordinance sent to a future city council agenda. Right now, the ordinance does not allow for any kind of body art event, including tattooing or piercing.
If the revisions pass, the vendor will pay a fee, and then there will be a fee for each artist who wants to participate in the event.
"So if someone wanted to come into the Multi-Purpose Events Center and have several tattoo artists there tattooing, they can do that as a temporary event without having to have the brick and mortar establishment" Lou Kreidler, Director of Health
Kreidler says for the safety of the clients, each out of town artist will have to be vetted by the Health Department before they would be allowed to tattoo at an event.
The last time the ordinance was updated or altered was in 2012.
