Burkburnett city officials say their water is now safe for everyone to drink and they've canceled the public notice about the nitrate content of the water.
Public Works Director Mike Whaley says a test last month by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality found above maximum safe levels for nitrates, but he says the TCEQ contacted him this morning and said the nitrate content is now at an acceptable level.
And just to be safe, Whaley says he took an additional water sampling to the Red River Water Authority environmental lab.
He says tests there confirmed the TCEQ's findings, and again, the water is safe to drink.
