Texas Bobsledders are Hoping to Make the US Winter Olympic Team!

With six months to go, a pair of Texas Bobsledders is gearing up for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Bobsledder Kehri Jones hopes to head to Pyeongchang next year for her first appearance at the Olympic Games.
The Killeen, Texas native was first introduced to the sport when her coach received an email from two-time Olympic medalist Bobsledder, Elana Meyers Taylor.

"It's slowly picking up because winter sports, obviously, is not a big deal out in Texas. It's very hot and I think people are really startin' to get interested in the sport since I've started and started telling people about it and telling people what I do," Kehri Jones US Olympic Team Hopeful.

As for Lubbock native turned San Antonio resident, Bobsledder Justin Olsen is looking to make his third Olympic team next year in Pyeongchang. Olsen attended the United States Air Force Academy for one year, before trying out for the Bobsled team, and is now a Sgt in the New York National Guard as a member of the Army's world class athlete program.

"When you wear the uniform, right, and you, some 450,000 soldiers in the Army, right? And I'm a representative. We all wear the same uniform. So I'm representing all of them. And so I wanna do them proud. I want them to look at me and say, "wow, you know, he's doin' us proud." cause I know that they're all takin' care of their job every day," Justin Olsen US Olympic Team Hopeful.

You can watch the games right here on KFDX starting on February 8th, 2018.
