Texoma firefighters salute fallen 9/11 comrades

Four Vernon firefighters and two Lakeside City volunteer firefighters participated in the 2017 Dallas 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Renaissance Tower.

During the climb, each first responder wore full gear and carried the photo of an emergency responder killed in rescue efforts nearly 16 years ago.

First responders climbed 110 flights of stairs which symbolized the height of the former World Trade Center's Twin Towers.

343 firefighters, 70 law enforcement officers, and 9 medical technicians gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001.
