The second most popular cookie in the U.S. is now on sale, along with a few other varieties.
The Girl Scouts are utilizing some new technology this year that makes it easier for everyone to get their favorite cookie.
From Peanut Butter Patties to Lemonades and Thin Mints, almost everyone has a favorite Girl Scout cookie and this year there is more to choose from.
“It's cranberry citrus. They call it an all occasion cookie. It's supposed to be a little bit more healthy,” says Troop Leader Waynette Rodgers.
But a new cookie isn't all they have to offer if you sometimes miss out on the cookie you love because you don't have cash.
“We can now take debit cards and credit cards, we can through it through our phones we just have little swiper that we swipe the cards,” says Rodgers.
Cookie prices have gone up this year by 50 cents, the first raise in 6 years. But long time Girl Scouts say the money is worth it because it enables them to learn life long skills.
“The girls that I work with usually are girls who get to go to camp only because of selling cookies and otherwise they wouldn't get to go places. So seeing them really happy is a really good experience,” says Senior Leslieann Hoyl.
“When I first started I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to talk to the people and I was really scared because I didn't know what would happen. So I kind of learned from my friends and stuff,” says Cadette Jordyn Jones.
So with each box sold, you may get a bite of nostalgia and a scout gets one step closer to following her dream.
