For the most part, those thousands of particpants and spectators will be staying at hotels across Texoma but rooms are filling up and the need for host homes is growing.
Homeowners across Texoma are now trying to profit from the Hotter N' Hell need for rooms.
Kirk Craighead says he wanted to help some of the riders who arecoming to town.
"All the hotels are booked up. We thought we'd give them a little solace and a break in the action," Craighead says.
"After pricing the hotels and seeing how outrageous they were, I thought, 'well, $85 would be a fair price for a bike rider," Craighead adds.
Craighead is putting two empty bedrooms in his home up for rent during the cycling event.
He says in this tough economy, the extra income will help.
Craighead posted his available to host riders on the popular classified ads website Craigslist.
He says some riders have begun to show interest.
"I've got several hits on Craigslist. I've got several phone calls but haven't gotten anybody to take a move on it yet but as Hotter N' Hell gets closer, there will be more movers and shakers." Craighead adds.
Other ads show host homes going for up to $400 a night.
Host home Coordinator for Hotter N' Hell Marie Libby says the event is not associated with the any of the Craigslist ads but she welcomes the idea as long as riders and hosts are careful.
Libby says, "It just shows that Wichita Falls is a giving community and supports events like this.
She adds it's a win win situation for everyone involved.
"People from the community get to meet people from other parts of the country and the riders get to see what a great city Wichita Falls is," Libby says.
Libby states there are still host homes available through her program.
