Texoma Soldier Needs Double Lung, Kidney Transplant

A Wichita Falls veteran who's fighting to survive in a Dallas hospital showed some improvement this afternoon.

Army Specialist Ray Losoya was taken off a life support machine around 3, and sat up in bed for around 20 minutes.

Losoya was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease after serving two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, he's in need of an emergency double lung transplant. It has also been recently discovered that he needs a new kidney as well.

Losoya formerly worked at PPG, and has 8 kids and 18 grand kids with one more on the way.

His cousin Camila says, “He's big hearted. He loves everyone. He will bend over backward for you in a heartbeat. He's a family man.”

Daughter Crystal says, “We have no doubt in our heart that he will be better. he's going to get through this. He's been through so much already there's no way he's giving up now.”

The family is raising money to help defray the costs of his growing medical bills.

To help with costs of the family's mounting medical bills, there will be a benefit shoot this weekend. It's set for Sunday at 1 pm, at Pointman Pistol Range outside Henrietta. That's at 5815 Fairview Road.

You're asked to bring your weapons, ammunition, and your "a" game because a poker shoot is planned, as well as dueling tree and many other events.

If you'd like more information, just call Camila Losoya at
