Texoma Vet Visits DC

- A Texoma veteran traveled to Washington D.C. Monday to honor marines who gave their life in Vietnam.

Tom Cartlidge is from Henrietta and was the company leader for "Hotel Company 2nd Battalion 7th Marines."

Between 1965 and 1970 his company lost 87 Marines while fighting in Vietnam.

And Saturday a monument was dedicated in their honor, preserving all of their names in history.

Cartilage says it was great sharing stories with people he served with, as well as the families of marines lost.

“They never leave their buddies in the field, they always, we have a motto called Semper Fi which means always faithful. We're always faithful to each other. We always look after each other and we look after whoever's left. If the guy's lost we stay in contact with the families,” says Cartilage.

Marines raised the $50,000 for the monument.
