Staff at The Kitchen spent this afternoon preparing additional food for Meals on Wheels clients, in case winter weather puts the brakes on the program later this week.
Workers assembled 1,400 stable shelf meals for clients.
Each bag contains non-perishable foods including a can of soup, crackers, a nutrition bar and a juice container-- food that could come in handy later this week when winter weather returns to the forecast.
"These will be delivered so that in case of inclement weather and our drivers can't get out to deliver meals our clients have a meal to eat," says Jackie Hamm, executive director of The Kitchen.
Meals on Wheels coordinators say two shelf stable meals will be delivered to clients tomorrow so they will have food in case winter weather makes roads too dangerous on Thursday and Friday for volunteers to deliver meals.
