The Kitchen in Wichita Falls Wins National Recognition

Three hundred and fifty Meals on Wheels programs across the United States reached out to their communities in a big way during the month of March to build support during Meals on Wheels of America’s national “March for Meals” campaign. Only a few came out on top as the best campaigns in the nation, including The Kitchen in Wichita Falls, who takes third place honors and a $2,500 prize for their efforts.

March for Meals is a national campaign held every March, initiated by the Meals on Wheels Association of America, to raise awareness of senior hunger and encourage action on the part of local communities. Hundreds of senior nutrition programs across the United States, like The Kitchen, promoted March for Meals through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

Locally, The Kitchen held events such as Community Champions Day, their annual Fish Fry, and was the recipient of support from the Patterson Auto Center Wheels and Thrills Car Show during March.

“We’re so thrilled to receive recognition for our efforts here in Wichita Falls,” said Jackie Riley, Director of Marketing and Development at The Kitchen, and the coordinator for local events. “Everyone who supported our March for Meals events get all the credit for this award. It’s just another example of how much support our community gives to Meals on Wheels.”
