Picking up the phones to call on family and friends pays off for volunteers at The Kitchen.
The non-profit organization's Meals on Wheels program could lose $120,000 in federal funding in October, so the The Kitchen officials decided to host their first phone-a-thon.
Tonight volunteers called on folks asking each to donate $5 and in the end that effort paid off.
They were able to bring in $20,124 in their first phone-a-thon.
