Several local business leaders and city and county officials spent part of the day behind bars but for a good cause.

During the "MDA Lock-up" annual fundraising event, people voluntarily do time in the MDA's make-shift jail.

They're released once they raise enough bail money.

All that money is then turned over to the local MDA chapter.

Daniel York, MDA executive director, says, "This and Fill the Boot are our biggest fundraisers we have. Between those, we raise about $150-thousand. It all stays local to help our local families."

York says funds raised benefit those that rely on the MDA for things such as flu shots, clinic visits, and sending kids to camp.
