Three Texoma Counties Now Have Burn Bans

Dry February heat has sparked a burn ban in Montague County now joining two other Texoma counties in banning most outdoor burning.

This morning Montague County commissioners issued a burn ban for the county effective immediately and for the next 90 days. The ban prohibits outdoor burning, exclusions include fire fighter training, public utility operations, crop harvesting, and some welding operations.

Outdoor cooking is allowed as long as the cooking device is propane or natural gas, wood or charcoal, and has a full enclosure.

Other Texoma counties under a burn ban include Baylor and Throckmorton counties, however Baylor's burn ban is only in effect on red-flag warning days.
