No one from the owner of Throckmorton Nursing and Rehab Center, Creative Solutions and Healthcare in Fort Worth, has returned our calls, so we do not know why the center is closing
It's believed from county and city officials the center employees about 25 workers.
Officials tell us some patients have already been moved to other nursing homes, such as in Seymour, and some may temporarily stay in the adjacent hospital.
Mayor Will Carroll says losing their only nursing home will be a big blow to the small town. He also says the information he and others have is that the furnishings have already been sold and the building will be auctioned.
"When you lose these businesses like this its huge. Especially one of this size and hopefully something else will come along and take its place and if not, we'll adapt," Mayor Carroll said.
He says when the county bought the building and sold it 3 to 4 years ago, it was grandfathered against some codes and regulations of nursing homes. But now those codes would apply, so it would be very expensive for a buyer to meet existing codes to open a new nursing home.
He also says the closure will hurt the hospital because many of its patients lived in the center.
