But when spring is sprung, it brings with it some violent storms.
That's why city officials are urging residents who've built new storm shelters on their property to register them with the city.
Officials say the shelters can come in handy during severe weather.
And after severe weather strikes, it's important for them to know where each shelter is for safety reasons.
John Henderson, Wichita Falls Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, says, "It helps rescue crews and first responders kind of pinpoint better where you're at so if you are trapped and can't get out, it's easier for us to know where you're at."
To register your storm shelter, call or email your full name, the address of your storm shelter, its exact location and whether it is above ground or below ground to Kathy Bazile at firstname.lastname@example.org.
