Small business employers got a lesson on how to operate a business today and it was taught by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Tom Pauken, the Commissioner Representing Employers, was at this morning's conference and spoke about Texas' leadership in private sector job growth.

He said although Texas has a lot to be proud of the national numbers are still taking a toll on the state.

"Now we are going to be impacted by the slow down of the national level just like when the great recession hit. After the bubble burst in 2008 Texas was hurt like everyone else was but we have bounced back better then any other large labor market state," Pauken said.

At the conference two Wichita Falls' businesses were honored.

Wichita Clutch Co. was awarded the Texas Manufacturing Star for growing the manufacturing base in the state of Texas.

And Storm Computer received the Texas Veterans Employer Award for its efforts in recruiting and hiring veterans for its workforce.
