Trial Date Set for Mo's Grocery Shooting Suspect

- A trial date is set for one of the suspects accused of the fatal shooting of a Wichita Falls grocery store owner last year.

Clifton John Russell IV will go to trial the first week of November for capital murder. Attorneys were awaiting the state legislature's punishment decision for 17-year-old convicted of capital murder to set a trial date.

During the second special session, legislators decided the appropriate punishment is life in prison with the possibility of parole after forty years served.

It applies to this case because Russell was a 17-year-old when he allegedly shot "Mo" Ahmad in January 2012. Police say Russell admitted to entering the store and fatally shooting Ahmad inside Mo's Grocery on Iowa Park Road.

After Russell, Michael Graves will then go to trial. He's also charged with capital murder. Police say he served as a lookout at the front door of Mo's Grocery while Russell went inside.
