Two are sent to the hospital after a chain of events caused an accident on US 287

Two people are recovering after a chain of events caused an accident on US 287 involving a semi and an SUV with no one inside.

It happened in the southbound lane here north of Carl's Jr. near Loop 11. Police say the SUV was out of gas and three people were pushing it up on the access road.

Somehow, they lost control of the SUV, though before it rolled down the hill onto 287 and crashed into the 18- wheeler. Police say two of the people pushing were either hit by the SUV or by its open door.

They were transported to United Regional with unknown injuries. Southbound 287 was closed and was backed up toward City View during clean-up.
