TxDOT announced its annual Click it or Ticket campaign Friday morning.
Area law enforcement officials were on-hand as the state agency prepared to launch its crackdown on seat belt violators.
Although the campaign started 13 years ago, law enforcement officials say there are still many who forget to buckle up.
"We're just a fast paced world now that we just jump in our cars and take off without really slowing down enough to think about safety for ourselves and other people," Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons said.
According to TxDOT, in 2013, more than 940 people died and nearly 5,400 were seriously injured in crashes where seat belts were not worn.
Click It Or Ticket starts Monday, May 19th and runs through June 1st.
If you're caught violating this state law you could be fined of up to $200.
