The rate for the city was 6.1% in July, up from 5.9% in June, but below the 6.8% rate of last summer.
The rate for the three county metro area of Wichita, Archer and Clay County was 5.6%. That compares to 5.4% in June, and 6.4% in July last year. The average for the state is 5.6%.
The lowest rate in our area was in Jack County at 3.3% and the highest is in Wichita County at 5.8%.
The Texas Workforce Commission says private employers added more than 42,000 jobs in July and hiring in the oil sector increased for the 51st consecutive month.
