Unemployment Rate Falls in Texas and Texoma

Unemployment numbers continue to fall in Texas and Texoma.

The state rate declined for the fifth straight month and the rate for the Wichita Falls metro area is close to falling below 5% for the first time since 2008.

The rate for the Wichita Falls metro area of Wichita, Archer and Clay Counties fell from 5.3% in November and 5.6% a year ago, to 5.1% in December.

The lowest rate in Texas again is the Midland metro, at 2.8%.

The rate in Texas is 5.6%, down from 6% a year ago.

In just the city of Wichita Falls, unemployment fell to 5.4% in December, a drop from the month before of two tenths and from a year ago of four tenths.
