The United Way needs your help supplying area child care centers with books.
That's why members are asking folks to donate books.
Coordinators say little ones tend to destroy books by chewing them or ripping the pages and many centers don't have the budgets to replace them.
So the United Way is asking for your help and they're starting with businesses.
"Businesses we thought would be a great idea that employees and patrol of those businesses could bring in books and drop them off then we could collect them from all the different areas and get them sorted and out to the different areas," says Gregory Shannon, the United Way's new Chief Executive Officer.
Any business interested in holding a book drive, as well as any individual who wants to donate children's books, can call the United Way weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 940-322-8638.
Drives should be held through August 23rd so the United Way can collect, sort and distribute the books to more than 100 area licensed day care and child care centers by next month.
