You have two and a half weeks left before your taxes are due and the local United Way is here to help you file.

In fact, United Way officials say they're on track to surpass the number of people helped during this year's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

The VITA program kicked off it's free income tax filing program in January at Sikes Senter Mall.

United Way officials say last year volunteers helped 2,800 people and returned $4.2 million in refunds to the community.

So far this year, the number helped is 2,400 people with more than $4.3 million returned to the community in refunds.

To make an appointment for this free service call 211 or 877-541-7905, which is toll free.

Hours at Sikes Senter Mall are Tuesday and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
