Update: Lawton Police Investigating A Possible 6th Homicide

The Lawton Police Department is currently investigating Lawton's sixth homicide of 2014.

At approximately 1:18 p.m. Friday afternoon, the Lawton Police Department received a call in the 1300 block of SW 26th Street in reference to an individual being shot. The caller stated a male identified as 21 year old Julian Alexander Nolan Humphrey had been shot and was unconscious. Officers arrived on the scene and found Humphrey lying in the floor of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound and bleeding. When the officers checked he did not have a pulse and was not breathing. Humphrey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Officers are interviewing possible witnesses and others that live in the residence, along with neighbors that may have information. At this time no one has been arrested or is in custody for this homicide.


The police department has made an arrest.

Police arrested Stevie Remon Gainey, 40 years of age, and he has been booked into the Lawton jail.
