Update: Man Who Fled From Deputies at 140 MPH Last Night to be Returned to Texas

Update: A man is waiting extradition to Wichita County after deputies say he led them on a chase reaching 140 miles per hour across the Red River.

Tillman County Sheriff's deputies say 34-year-old Levi Garrett is jailed on two  warrants in Frederick and is awaiting extradition to Wichita County for charges associated with the chase.

Wichita County Sheriff David Duke says the chase started with an attempted traffic stop yesterday afternoon on highway 287 between highway 25 and County Line Road in Electra.

He says Garrett reached speeds of more than 140 miles per hour even driving through the Harrold Cemetery trying to escape.

Sheriff Duke says Garrett crossed the Red River and eventually lost control on a road in Davidson, Oklahoma, going through a  ditch and into a yard before the back tire fell off the rented Impala he was driving.

Duke says the man has known addresses in Vernon and Frederick.
