The business community packed the Wichita Falls Country Club to hear Texas Senator John Cornyn's views on the economy, Obamacare, military cuts and much more.
His speech was fairly short and the topics U.S. Senator John Cornyn addressed during the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and Industry Legislative Luncheon were close to the business leaders hearts and minds.
Senator Cornyn told the audience because of conservative leadership, Texas is in much better economic shape than most states.
"We've got more than 1,000 people a day, is the number I've seen, who are moving here from other parts of the country and the way I look at that is they're voting with their feet. They're voting for policies that actually create jobs and create opportunity," says Sen. Cornyn.
But one thing Cornyn says conservatives could not stop and will have an impact on Texas is the Affordable Care Act.
"I think what's gonna have to happen and this doesn't make me happy... it makes me sad, but I think we're gonna have to see Obamacare be implemented then fail, which I confident it will. Not that I'm happy with that but many of us predicted this at the outset that something this big and this expensive, this complicated.. covering 300 million people simply could not work and won't work and we're seeing the evidence of that now," Sen. Cornyn explains.
Cornyn believes many American's frustrations over Obamacare will have voters making changes in the upcoming elections which he feels will allow republicans to regain the majority in the U.S.Senate.
This was Cornyn's second time speaking at the chamber's legislative luncheon. And demand was so great for this event that coordinators not only sold all 300 tickets but squeezed in an additional 19 people.
