USAF Deputy Chief of Staff visits with SMAC

WICHITA FALLS - The Deputy Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force spent some time Wednesday night with the local SMAC, or Sheppard Military Affairs Committee.

It was a gathering at the MPEC to thank the Wichita Falls community for its support of Sheppard Air Force Base.

Lt. General Chris Nowland said the U.S. Air Force is working hard to rebuild, and will get the pilot crisis solved that came from downsizing over the last decade.

Right now, it's short about 400 fighter pilots, and Sheppard is key in the rebuilding process.

Lt. General Nowland urged the community to continue to support Airmen who come here from all over the country, as it has since the 1940's.
