THE CITY OF VERNON IS ALSO LOOKING TO SWIM TOWARD A BETTER ECONOMY BY ADDING A NEW RECREATIONAL WATER PARK.
CITY MANAGER MITCH GRANT SAYS FOR THE PAST SIX SUMMERS THE CITY HAS GONE WITHOUT A POOL.
HE SAYS THE RESIDENTS HAVE HAD TO TRAVEL TO SURROUNDING TOWNS TO ENJOY WATER ACTIVITIES... BUT THAT WILL ALL CHANGE THIS
YEAR WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THE NEW VERNON AQUATIC CENTER.
THE NEW PARK WILL BE LOCATED ON *SOUTH SAN* ROAD JUST OFF BUSINESS 287 --- OR WILBARGER STREET.
ORGANIZERS SAY THE PARK WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH LARGE WATER SLIDE .... WITH A DEEP END THAT'S 12 FEET.
IT WILL ALSO HAVE A LAZY RIVER FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO JUST LOUNGE.
We're hoping that it will be shock to the economy which we wont see directly but we'll see the bottom line in the form of sales tax and things like that which comes back to the city and helps us provide things like public safety and other things that the city does, says Mictch Grant, Vernon City Manager.
GRANT SAYS THE PROJECT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE COMMUNITY.
HE SAYS A LARGE AMOUNT OF THE *1- POINT- 8* MILLION DOLLARS IT WILL COST TO COMPLETE THE PARK CAME FROM LOCAL RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES.
THE PARK IS SCHEDULED TO BE COMPLETE BY MID APRIL
