Vernon College hosted first community event in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - Vernon College hosted its first community event in Wichita Falls Saturday.

About 60 booths were set up around the parking lot at the Century City Plaza where people could learn more about what kind of courses the college has to offer.

TXDot was there doing car seat safety checks, as was a mini farmers market and lunch provided for those who attended.

The Vernon College President said they were pleased with how many non-traditional students showed up.

"It's been interesting to see those adults, the 25, the 45, the 55 come out and talk to us about changing careers or if they never finished their degree to come back and get that degree finished," Vernon College President Dusty Johnston said. "It's been real interesting and real enjoyable."

Johnston said they hope to host another event like this in the near future.
