Another Texoma city is ratcheting up restrictions to conserve water.

The city of Vernon is now in a stage 4 drought emergency.

Under stage 4, no outside watering is allowed except by buckets or handheld hoses.

Sprinkler systems should be turned off, and no home car washing or washing of property is allowed.

Under the previous stage 3 restrictions, residents were allowed to use sprinklers on certain days and at certain times. City officials said over the summer, the city wells had fallen below normal levels.
