Vernon Police Chief Tom Wilson say the leak is in the water lines that carry water from the water fields in the northern part of Wilbarger County. Wilson says city staff and contractors are working right now to repair the leak.

City officials say this is not an emergency situation. They just want residents to decrease their water usage until the break is fixed.

Wilson says city staff plans to use Vernon's "Code Red" system to let residents know where the water supply system is restored and normal water usage can continue.
