A Veterans Advisory Council is currently being formed.
The council will not replace the current veteran organizations but will help organize the resources already available.
It will unite groups like the VA the VFW and American Legion to act as a central hub to get information out about all the services available.
It will provide things like a calendar of each organizations events and a volunteer schedule.
Organizers say it's a program by veterans for veterans because they have special needs that only veterans can relate to.
“I'll be honest with you, when I served, I didn't want to admit that I needed some help, I needed some help with some medical or with some life or death issues in war and it was something I needed to work through,” says Wichita Falls City Councilor Tim Ingle.
And although a lot of focus has been put on PTSD many other problems will be addressed through the council.
“Homelessness is an example, there are all kinds of homeless programs working in the state of Texas and nationally, I think what we need to do here is tap into some of those,” says Larry Petrash.
There are still open spots on the council, if you want to apply visit the city's website.
