Water Rate Increase Could Start Tuesday

- Wichita Falls water users could soon see a spike in their monthly bills.

City council will be voting on another rate increase at their meeting Tuesday. If passed it would raise just the water rate, not other services on your monthly bill, by 53 percent.

The city says for the average customer who uses about 6 units a month or about 4,500 gallons, their water bill will go up about 14 dollars.

So if you pay 26 dollars for water, you will be paying about 40 dollars.

City officials say even with the increase water users are paying less than one penny for 3 gallons of water.

If passed the rate increase would take effect immediately.

The meeting is open to the public. It will be Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. on the first floor of Memorial Auditorium.
