The commissioners re-elected current mayor, Jim Bernard, and current vice-mayor, Carole Eakin, to new terms Monday night.
One of the most pressing items they have to deal with is finding and hiring a new city manager. In March the commission voted to fire City Manager Chuck Brown, who had been manager for 7 years, with no public reason given.
A few days later the commission met again and voted to reverse that action for legal reasons, hired him back, and then put him on 90 day paid administrative leave.
They hired retired insurance agent Brad Scott as temporary city manager. Until Brown's status as city manager is resolved, the city can not begin a search for a new city manager.
