Wichita County Commissioners got a progress report on the county's finances regarding a new jail facility.
Commissioners discussed options on a new jail facility at the current Sprague Jail Annex location on Interstate 44.
They got a report that the county's finances ended 2013 with a positive balance, which officials say could allow them one of two options on building a new jail.

"What we're talking about right now is a $20-million to $24-million dollar project.  That's if we build in the current Sprague building.  If we leave Vernon College in place and we build around them then that price jumps from $24-million to $32 million dollars, roughly," says Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom.

Commissioners say they are about two years from deciding which plan they want to pursue.
However, Judge Gossom says if leaders choose expanding the Sprague Annex Unit, Vernon College would have one year to find a new location to move to.
