W.C. Residents Helping Keep Mosquito Numbers Down

Recent rains have also caused mosquitoes to take flight, but Wichita County health officials say they are not causing any problems yet.

Vector control officials say although West Nile cases are reported in the Dallas area, none have been reported this year in Wichita County.

And they say since the recent rains, the public has actually helped keep the mosquito population down by treating standing water with briquetts that kill mosquito larvae.

Free briquetts are still available at the Wichita Falls Wichita County Public Health District on Third Street.

They can be picked up weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
