W.F. Animal Services Center Now Adopting Pets

Texomans now have another place to adopt pets.
Last month Wichita Falls city councilors voted to add adoption services at the city's Animal Services Center.
Last year, 56% of the animals that came into the center were put down.
City shelter officials say their adoption policy will decrease the local euthanasia rate and the number of unwanted pets.

"The new owner has to schedule a spay or neuter appointment with the veterinarian of their choice and we'll deliver the animal to that vet the day of the surgery and the owner gets to pick it up that evening after it's spayed or neutered," says Katrena Mitchell, administrator for Wichita Falls Animal Services Center.

The adoption fee is $50, which includes registration and vaccination fees.
You will also have to cover a rabies shot on your own.
Since the city shelter occasionally gets rabbits, pythons and other animals officials say if they are there they will also be up for adoption.
